    Van conversion advice

About insurance...... any vehicle that isn't coach built (think 'propper motorhome) or built and marketed as a camper (think VW California) cannot be insured as a camper anymore. DVLA changed the rules. It can now only be insured as a 'Panel Van With Windows'. You'll have to look up the exact...

    Van conversion advice

You have a shower in a medium sized van? That's impressive! I don't have pictures of my van, there's a thread on here from a while ago of a steak I cooked on the tail gate of my old pick up. That's about it [emoji38]

What knife(knives) do you use bushcrafting?

Fixed blade - cutting, batoning, butchery. Underwater knife fighting. Pocket knife - cutting, sawing, tinkering, fixing downed space craft.

    Van conversion advice

It's totally feasible. There are loads of options out there for a work van/camper hybrid. It's how I lived for a long time. For a kitchen set up, again, there are loads of pod type options out there. They can be expensive, though. When I changed jobs and the family settled, I worked out of a...

    Van conversion advice

Hey up! Here's a few links for using a mid sized van as a part time camper and a working van.... (based on a combi layout with no bulkhead). For your bed idea, I really (like, REALLY) recommend this guy. His build designs are phenomenal and really well thought out. And if they're not in your...

What knife(knives) do you use bushcrafting?

Oooh here we go! This thread is gonna be a big one! [emoji38] For me.... A Mora Companion HD (Carbon blade) or my SWC Woodlore. Deciding on which is simply a matter of which one I grab first off the shelf. But mostly, I carry the Woodie on my hip. In my pocket is a Victorinox Rangergrip 79...

    Trangia problem...

I have noticed this year that I sometimes struggle to unscrew the lid on my trangia stove. I can't get enough grip on it. Does anyone have this problem? I think it's my grip strength in maybe something to do with the stove still being warm when I screw the lid back on? Any advice appreciated.

    Source for straps?

Good idea! I think there are loads of options available to you. Army surplus rucksack straps are widely available, and come to think of it, so are the frames. Think GS bergan (1980s style).... For a more modern (and lighter, more comfortable option) have a look at the DEI 1806MC frames here...

    Trangia kettle leak

It's the heat stress over time that may have caused the leak. I can't recall exactly at what temp Aluminium begins to be affected, but over time direct heat onto Aluminium will cause it to weaken. If your kettle is 10+ years old, it's possible that continued exposure to direct heat has caused...

    A great night's sleep

    - ear plugs if others are near by - a good meal at the end of the day - a warm hat and warm socks if it's cold I find that the first night's sleep outside is always a little disturbed, due to temp changes. I sleep very warm so I can over heat. I've never used a 'winter' sleeping bag, at most a...

    Eco-friendly Clog-Popping

This is how I genuinely want to go. Pushed out to sea on a long boat, a flaming arrow shot into the fuel soaked straw. Unfortunately, I think the law in England wouldn't allow it. So failing that, I'll probably be cremated with my ashes thrown into the air. My condolences to Chris, I'll tip my hat.

    Brecklands Wild Camp

Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm not a film maker, just filmed it as I went! I don't make videos very often, only when the mood takes me! [emoji1787]

    Self contained ignition

I feel an experiment coming one. But how would one generate the static? Assuming the hair would be erm.... closely embedded near the fart....[emoji848][emoji38]

    Brecklands Wild Camp

I went out for another wild camp this weekend. Decided to make another short video, instead of doing a write up. This video is half the length of my last one, lots gots chopped in the edit! It's ASMR, no talking or music. I find I kinda like it that way. Anyways.... hope you enjoy.[emoji1303]
