    No heat instant/emergency food?

Yeah, October in JokkMokk, a 22 yo YouTuber died due to hypothermia, but seems to waited too late for making the call. Think the lesson to learn, is not to solo either for the first attempts, or after you've had to deal with a major medical issue.

    What colour emergency strobe light?

I have an Orbiloc. https://orbiloc.com/ It's made in Denmark, and nicely made bit of kit. 100% waterproof, and uses a tiny magnet in the rotating ring to select either constant on, or blinking. Bought one intended for attaching to dog collars as the runner version is impossible to find, and...

    Christmas Traditions

Have a little (6" tall) jellycat santa bought in Selfrigdes 20 years ago. Each year attach it to my the back of daysack, it's quite amusing when walking around town, and hear parents pointing it out to their kids, or store staff doing the same.

    No heat instant/emergency food?

As powdered form, definitely heard of people using instant oats sachets made with cold water. Long trail hikers/backpackers call it cold soaking. Apparently can make ramen that way too, just takes time (30mins+) for it to rehydrate.

    Bushcraft films

Alone in the Wilderness. Dick Proenneke's documentaries. Though might be hard to track down, it was on YouTube at one point. I remember during 2020, they lifted the bus out with a chinook, as it was attracting too many people. And oddly announced they returned McCandless's belongings to his family.

Crucible Steel, maker of all CPM alloys, files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

Wonder how much of their business was exotic knife steels over more common steels like 300/400 series stainless etc. Just reading their history. "Crucible's roots trace back to 1776, when the Naylor and Sanderson Steel Mill was established in Sheffield, England. A century later, the company –...

    My "stealth" lights.

There is a UK company, Exposure Lights, that made nice little bombproof lights like this. It's a shame they discontinued them.

Was thinking of an aluminium/stainless cigar tube (seems to be 1" or 2" diameter on Ali) to shove a spring & candle into.
