    Antiseptic Cotton buds

The thead was started asking whether it's worth buying iodine. The answer is clearly not.

    Antiseptic Cotton buds

No one cares about historic wound care, or animal treatment. Yes. Iodine is used to sterilize intact skin in preparation for surgery.

    EG Ultimate Match -

Leigh from The Bug Out Shop had them on his channel a while back. Presume they were samples but don't know if he got any in to sell. Hasn't put them on his webstore atleast, so might have to buy in person. I suspect there maybe hassle and legalities involved. Edit: link was to wrong video.

    Antiseptic Cotton buds

NHS recommendations for treating cuts & grazes explicitly says not to get antiseptic into a wound. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cuts-and-grazes/ "Clean the skin around the wound using soap and water or antiseptic – but try not to get antiseptic into the wound."

    Antiseptic Cotton buds

Think the debate is does iodine work better than just water or saline. The one disadvantage of iodine is some people are allergic. All the wound wipes you can purchase in the UK are just saline. Boots, Savlon's etc. And the piercing industry uses saline qtips for aftercare.

    Antiseptic Cotton buds

Yes. But not open wounds. It's used to sterilise intact skin before injection or surgery. Both alcohol & iodine sterlise by drying, and it's better to keep an open wound moist.

Liars or Trolls? Wrong or deliberately wrong...

SciManDan spends a lot of time debunking all the flat earther theories out there. https://www.youtube.com/@SciManDan

    Antiseptic Cotton buds

Don't think iodine or alcohol are good for cuts. Think all our (UK) available wound cleaning wipes are just saline based. US have Benzalkonium Chloride (BZK) Antiseptic wipes.

LEP flashlight - practical for anything?

Acebeam do have a LEP with some funky electronic lens which can increase the flood of the LEP. Bit like the old zoomable flashlights. https://www.acebeam.com/w35-lc-del-zoom-lep-flashlight

LEP flashlight - practical for anything?

Signaling. Probably can replace the rescue laser devices, might not have the same range but safer. At least BMW do use them in their car headlights. And for search lights on ships & helicopters. https://white-laser-lighting.com/pages/100w-lep

    Useful radio suggestions

Surprised no one has considering the plethora of ESP32 SI4732 based radio recievers, and the ESP32 SX1278 lora transceivers. Whilst screen looks pretty good, poor UI is it's major drawback to longterm use.

Government consultation on banning large knives and machetes

I think it depends where it is dispatched from. If dispatched from an Amazon warehouse then yes, but if it's a third party store that sends it's own deliveries, then how can they.

Government consultation on banning large knives and machetes

I don't think Amazon can do any more. Amazon uses Experian Identity Services for age verification. So either Experian has bad data, or Axel used someone elses card details. I'm betting the latter.

Government consultation on banning large knives and machetes

Just saw the BBC article saying about live video recording. What a joke. He bought it a week before his 18th birthday. In Scotland, a 16 yo can purchase any bladed item if it's designed for a domestic use.

Did see a review of a new Topo Designs pouch few weeks ago. Square, 3.5"x3.5"x1" https://topodesigns.com/products/square-bag Looks about right for my needs, lighter, AA angle light and a SAK with space to spare. Waiting for it to appear in UK stores.

    EDC pouch/slip

Nothing from Skinthsolutions work? ChatGPT thinks a M7 toollet fits a UKPK and AA flashlight. The Spyderco UKPK should fit in the Skinth Solutions M7 Toollet, but it may be a tight fit depending on the exact configuration. The M7 Toollet is designed for compact multi-tools and small...
