thanks, the stems have a lot of pith and are pretty plain though a nice creamy colour. not sure of the right terminology? but inside the 'joint' where the limb stems from the branch is where i found the pretty one so no pith
i cut small pieces from local woods most days im walking the dog for ferro rod tops, hazel, holly, hawthorn these about 4 or 5 years ago so well seasoned.
this one from a buddleia tree is rather pretty!
Hultafors HD knife re finished blade and re handled with leather sheath and matching ferro rod
blade from Japanese SK5 carbon steel approx 59hrc
handle is hickory as is ferro rod top
very good steel and heat treat
sheath from 4mm veg tan leather with ferro rod holder

forgot about this little project! made a sheath for it today. still waiting for it to dry out after wet forming.
nothing fancy for the handle, just an off cut of hickory though wish now id used something a little more flash.
I have two of these available in 3.2mm thick D2, full scandi grind 28 degree's.

handle material is ivory paper micarta over natural tan canvas micarta liners.
one with stainless bolts and the other with brass
the stainless has the patterned sheath...
couldnt take any decent pics as now dark but finished one of two scandi's in D2 today, aged ivory paper micarta with natural tan canvas micarta liners and stainless bolts.
