Thanks for helping Sandbender, though having cleared everything and several re-starts still can't get in. About to switch off router for a bit just in case there's some weird ISP thing going on.
Thanks for speedy response. Unfortunately, even clicking Zorro's link still brings up 'closed for upgrade' screen. I've even tried clearing my cache to no avail. Weirdness.
Thanks for the tips, fellas:)
I've been scraping and now have more movement in the outer limbs which has resulted in an improved shape. Before I do more I think I'll have a go at heat treating the belly to help reduce set.
At the moment it seems a bit daunting. The more you read, the...
Couple of pics of the back added showing area near potential hinge.
Having little experience with regard to draw weights I've just been guided by what I've read. I did get to shoot a few arrows yesterday when I dropped into the archery club. I used a 24lb recurve which seemed very easy to...
Thanks guys!
I suspected there was a hinge developing by the handle on the left but wasn't sure so didn't want to influence things by mentioning it - thanks for flagging it up. I'll concentrate on trying to smooth that out.
The main plan I used for dimensions was for a flatbow out of a board...
Hi,
Inspired by this thread http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38543 started by Bushman, Im part way through my first hazel selfbow. After picking up tips from across the net, Ive reached a stage where Id really appreciate a little feedback on the tiller and some advice on how...
Seems to be an odd one this. It had been working ok for me for the last few days but tonight it's back to seizing up my IE again. Have to reboot when this happens. The index page always seems to get stuck with 2 items left to download - the paypal donate button being the one it actually sticks...
Jojo: Thanks fro taking the time to post. It's a reflief to know I can carry on with this piece.
For the moment, I have it strapped to a board in such a way that recurve is being added to the straight limb and a little bit of it reduced on the upper limb.
I've used both steam and dry heat...
Interesting. I tried both links in your posts and each caused the same hang-up for me.
After a bit of trial and error with the Norton settings, I found switching off the new SONAR feature allowed me to use the index page without a problem. Perhaps there's a bit of code on there it doesn't...
Hello All,
I'm experiencing a weird problem at the moment. If I visit the homepage from my bookmark the page opens with no problem. If I then click the 'Forums' link to go to the index page however, IE hangs up and my cpu usage shoots up to 100%. Nothing responds and I have to reboot. This has...
Having roughed out a nice piece of hazel, I'm a little worried about the amount of curvature in the top limb:
Although I think it points in the right direction I'm worried that it might be too curved and will eventually be unworkable. I'd be grateful for a little advice from our resident...
I enjoyed reading this. Thanks!
I harvested some Hazel yesterday and will be de-barking it later today. I think I've been bitten by the bug.
Enjoyable thread, this one:)
Sadly, I think HA is one of the more over-hyped issues around flashlights. From reading various internet fora (for too long:rolleyes: :) ) it seems quality can vary across the same brand, let alone across the industry.
I have a Surefire A2 that came with the head not quite tightened properly...
Thanks ForgeCorvus, I see my mistake now. I had in mind the D cross section (mentioned earlier in the thread) where the flat is the back and the curve is the belly and went on to think that this was being illustrated in the top picture in post #16. Although the top does have an elongated D...
Thanks for taking the trouble to answer FC.
But I'm afraid I still don't understand how the back ends up flat if you are only taking wood from the belly?
In post #16 the picture seems to show the flat side of the D has been shaved but the semi round belly appears untouched.
Stovie...
