OK then, advice well given and well received. I'll just take the rain or go au naturale...

Warm and Wet (but not in a good way)

    That's a good point - they'll be goretex trousers.

Warm and Wet (but not in a good way)

No idea. That's why I'm asking if anyone's ever done it. Yeah, that's the other option.

Warm and Wet (but not in a good way)

Simple question - do/have any of you worn waterproof trousers without any 'normal' trousers beneath. Just you, your undercrackers, then waterproofs. I ask because I am on annual leave next week and the weather forecast is for warm (low 20s) weather with rain. And I reckon that if I have normal...

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

I've done absolutely no beekeeping activities whatsoever. But I don't have any bees, so I wouldn't. But I tell you what I did do. Just over a week ago, whilst out for a walk, I saw a very dozy and weak bee who was clearly having trouble to take off and fly. Now, as it happens, I'd recently seen...

    Humidity and cooling down

I'm sure the RAC are right but, you know what, I don't want to be on my deathbed thinking, 'I wish I'd driven with the window open, feeling the wind blowing through my hair, more often.' Wind it down and drive like you're on the Pacific Coast and the Devil can sort it all out...

    hiking, camping, & survival

Since you are VERY new to this, a few key points to keep in mind. First and foremost, it will be for real and you will not be roleplaying an imaginary character in your head any more. Second, accept that whilst you are learning some things will go wrong and not be how you thought/hoped they...

Sixth Sense - What is it ?

Yes, I have. A patient who was in a secure mental health unit for hearing voices telling him to stab his own father. Which he duly did and killed him. I remember talking to him and, as you say, he really was looking through me. I just knew he was hearing voices and he was struggling with an...

    Paintings & Sketches

Like the various photography threads, this thread is for any paintings and sketches you may have done. Talent is not a requirement, just a chance to share and talk and do your best Bob Ross impression ('gonna drop a little mountain right in here...'). I'll have the courage of my convictions and...

    The “Isn't Life Great” thread

Hmm...let's do it then. Let's start a Paintings & Sketches thread. I'll get the ball rolling. I'll create it in the 'Photos & Photography' forum because that seems the closest. Anyone and everyone is welcome to contribute...

    The “Isn't Life Great” thread

Oh, that's interesting. I like to do a bit of painting as well. I'm not that good at it, but I enjoy it. My preference is for pen sketching (sketching with a pen rather than sketching pictures of pens). There's a photography thread, but a painting and drawing one would be nice as well.

    The “Isn't Life Great” thread

Good call! Since I have the day off I decided to go out early for a walk before the uncivilised heat built up. And what a lovely walk with some truly inspiring wildlife on display. Spider webs everywhere. At one point I was looking at a large spider and then, all of a sudden, a hornet came in...

    Climate Change & Survival.

Man Friday, I'm really sorry, but could you kindly go somewhere else and have your nervous breakdown. You're using the climate debate as a surrogate for something else that is causing you anxiety. You also display narcissistic/BPD traits. This is all developing into OCD.* You are damaging...

    Where are the butterflies?

Funnily enough, whilst out walking on the Downs at the weekend I thought just the same thing - 'what a lot of moths'. They were mainly common carpet moths and treble bar moths, but a noticeable number. Saw this oddly coloured, but very small, moth as well. I tried my hardest to get a decent...
