The prize:
OK these are toxic for you Wayne:

Interestingly enough the research that has been done says they're actually quite quick, as the tyres are so huge they deform over objects/irregularities in the ground which takes less energy that riding over the top of them.
That's nice thing is if I was going to spend that I'd be really tempted with a dropper post. This one is a 29er and I find the tyre capacity is so huge I don't find it that much of an issue, not compared to my road bike anyway :)
I'm slowly building my collection of Alpkit luggage, I'm currently setup for extended days but really need the large tail pouch they do if I want to consider an overnighter without taking a rucksack. This is my current setup https://goo.gl/photos/k7Fk9upEPdjnsiJx6

I love my Tilley waxed hat for the winter but that's probably not a lot of help for you. Have you tried the walking boot proofer? If it will stick to the hat it should be much better than the fabric clothing proofer for what you need, you'll probably need to wash the wax off of the hat though.
Yeah I remember several years back being in Brecon in horizontal rain. We were out all day and the rain just didn't let off, I'm pretty sure we all got blown over at some point that day, got back thoroughly knackered and all smiling. Tried popping into a pub to pick up a bottle of wine and they...
I was out again this morning in it, I did feel quite guilty making an old couple jump quite a lot as they couldn't see past their torch light and I didn't have mine on.
