Strops: Hard backed or not? Preference or different application?

Hanging strops are fine if you have the technique to use them, hard backed are easier to use.

Unfortunately mine is a bit pricier than that one. Folds down flat but requires a flue though

    barbed wire

Open Plains is a great movie about how barbed wire changed the face of the wild West. I'm not a fan of Kevin Costner but have to admit it's a good film.

Help - waxing polycotton clothing - Fjallraven etc

Plus one to what Red said, it's mainly parrafin and beeswax. Melt it to make a block then let it set. Rub it in evenly and take a paint stripper to it, repeat as necessary. Cheap as chips. Be careful if adding turps, you don't need it but there's a great recipe involving it.

    Hanging in Northamptonshire

Some great land near Harrington and similar, there's a lot out Kettering Corby way if you get on the OS maps and google maps. Not been punted or accidentally shot yet and have had some brilliant time hammocking and bivvi'ing. Some great woods out Daventry Everdon way as well. I don't like Corby...

    Cowboy? Need help BCUK...

He's a nice enough lad and has gifted me things in the past unexpectedly, perhaps as a result of a knife jig I made him. I know he's been busy on a year long course for bushcraft instructing so perhaps real life got in the way? Might have been hard to get in touch with people after being banned...

White Rose Wood 7th-9th February 2014

I was going to try to make it for the day on Saturday with Joseph but couldn't commit fully this time round. Saves hassle as the path in will be biblical with the amount of rain we've had this week. Wasn't meant to be this time round I guess. Should be at the next one hopefully.

Ha ha, ya I was waiting for a complaint about the chisel being used as he looked on elsewhere at the start. That or the lack of steel toed boots lolz

    Next level wood turning

Not sure if this has been posted before, apologies if it has. Saw this on a shaving forum and had to share in case you've not seen it yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnv0DAR_gWA#action=share I don't do wood turning but I work with steel. It's humbling to watch regardless! Think he'd...

Where can I find the fur ruff for an M90 ECWCS Gen1 jacket?

Ya the woodland ones can be found for $3, it's the shipping that jacks it up. Love the features for the price I paid as well as the look of the splinter pattern, will have to do without the ruff I guess. My first thought was some mossie net for shooting, it would be too hot to use with the hood...

Where can I find the fur ruff for an M90 ECWCS Gen1 jacket?

Nobody has the splinter pattern with a ruff I take it? How about the jacket in general with a ruff? Am I missing a trick by not having one?

Where can I find the fur ruff for an M90 ECWCS Gen1 jacket?

As the title says... Loving the jacket, quality features and build. Would be great to source the fur ruff in matching M90 splintercam with hook and loop/snap fasteners, all I've found is a couple woodland camo from the US of A. Any help would be appreciated as it would be the icing on the cake...

Surprised nobody has grabbed this to pimp and personalise their Bergen yet. Zap badges are cheap and look great on these with a blood type badge. Anyone that's seen TwoDogs or Martin K9's Bergen will want one!

    alpkit sleeping bags?

I could be wrong but I always thought it was common knowledge you subscribed to the newsletter for an update on sleepingbags being in stock? That's how I got mine a few years back, a winter bag in the middle of July or something similar. My down bag is rarely warm in temperate climates but I'm...
