Pemmican, rice and additional cans of beans in water.
Once you've eaten all that, go home and rejoin normality as Britain is about as wild as a golf course and as 'natural' as one too.
The idea that our island can provide enough wild food for the average person is laughable. You're better...
Most billhooks I've seen, owned and used have been single beveled/chisel ground. Proper hedge laying is much easier with a single bevel/chisel grind but obviously plenty with a normal grind exist (and are my preferred as I haven't layed hedges in years!).
Looks like quite a nice billhook mate. :)
I've always found them to be pretty decent and versatile. But that depends on the blade shape.
The hooked tip does get in the way though, especially when whittling a project on a work stump. The tip gets stuck and only the first section of the blade...
Yo, I have a Condor village parang and Viper dan1 silver twill friction folder knife for swaps.
The Condor parang comes with a lovely leather sheath and is a great parang/machete. Really thick steel and easy to sahrpen. Used but not abused. My phone is broken so no pictures right now but here's...
The steel is great! Try to get a crosscut saw for £10 or less. Those vintage hipster shops want £20 a saw but eBay sellers have stacks of them for chump change if you collect.
I've found the steel to be ideal for thinner blades. Far cheaper, easier and quicker than forging round bar!
That's really nice mate! It'll make a nice partner for that boat knife youre working on. ;)
I dig the thin blades too. Lucky for me I've got stacks of antique crosscut saws to butcher into sonetsome usable! :D
I lost track of time and only realised a earlier that I needed the leather craft knife finished by today as I'm gifting it tomorrow..!!
Straight out the vice, where it's been sitting for a few days.
Hacked off some excess with a hacksaw and then tried to close in on the lines with the angle...
Hey, yeah I think the sheath would fit a Martindale nicely. And I can split the catapults if you're interested.
Pm me with what you have in mind! Cheers
Here's the marbles knife for those interested. The handle still needs finishing and the cutting edge needs polishing etc.
And here's the leather craft knife. Like I mentioned, it's been chisel ground previously and today in the little bit of clear skies I finished the inside groove shaping...
Yo,
Few more bits for swaps. In no particular order..
Hunting catapults: One large ttf in green high density plastic, as new with bands. One laminate otf wood in camo green, used. One laminate ttf, unused and ready to paint etc this one takes tubes and old school rubber too. Also a little...
Cheers guys!
The small curved blade is a leather knife. It's for shaping, skiving and slicing leather. I've chisel ground it and it's lookin promising, just need to grind the finger area and dig out some walnut for the scales!
The steel is good. Holds a nice edge, is rigid but not brittle and...
