Well done to your son for the spoon (+ well done to Dad for the pan :) ).

    Simple packframe

Very nice idea + saves all the measuring + notching, etc of the Roycroft. As Mr Fenna notes, however, there is an element of serendipity in the wood. I will continue with teaching Roycroft to my Scouts, partly in memory of Mr Kochanski and partly because it develops their knife skills...

    Withdrawn Fallkniven F1 (or H1)

Hi, I have had the Fallkniven F1 recommended to me by several people. I can't afford a new one at present. Does anyone have a used but usable F1 they'd be prepared to sell, please? I'd prefer a plastic sheath, right handed - but I think I can buy those separately (anyone know for sure?)...

    Fallkniven H1- any info?

Is this a "normal" F1 or one of the newer versions that Fallkniven have released?

    Fallkniven H1- any info?

Thanks to all who have replied - all info gratefully received. Does anyone in the Moray area own an H1 or F1? I have only handled one once and very briefly while gutting fish, so I'd appreciate the chance to hold and maybe cut with one. It's a chunk of cash to pay for a knife without being...

    Fallkniven H1- any info?

Tip? I thought the H1 had a generally strong and "bulletproof" blade. I think I have seen comments about the F1 tip breaking.

    Fallkniven H1- any info?

Thanks for that last insight. Any F1 supporters out there? I'm wondering if I should have a second look.

    Karrimor jaguar advice?

Berghaus better in the field; Karrimor better for holiday hiking, IMHO ;-)

    Karrimor jaguar advice?

Hi, Broch, At the end of the 70s and early 80s the non- adjustable version was it, but an adjustable version arrived mid-80s. I bought one but didn't get on with it as the system slipped in use. I replaced it with a Berghaus Cyclops Alp (size 2, fixed back) which I still have.

    Karrimor jaguar advice?

The original Karrimor Jags were not adjustable. They came in 3 back lengths, so it was important to try them on loaded. I fitted (and still fit) a size 2. I have bought some Jags on eBay and still use them - I wore out my first but still have it to carry the Scout parachute: 37 years and...

    My First Knife

"Darkness Within" is a lovely piece of woodworking. I also like the carved spheres and the spirals. Wonderful work and most inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

    Fallkniven H1- any info?

Thanks for your input. What sort of jobs did it do well? Were there any areas where it was a challenge, perhaps because of the thickness or grind?

    Fallkniven H1- any info?

Greetings all, Are there any long-term users of a Fallkniven H1 out there who'd be willing to share their experiences? I like the F1's steel but don't find the handle comfortable. I think the H1 might be the answer. (Also, does anyone near Inverness or Elgin own an H1 they'd be willing to...
