But then thin leather gets wet, cold too in England. The boots you wear in that video would not work good much up here. Thick Leather OK for very cold weather and like you said keep feet warm - but only when dry.
Whats wrong with rubber boots? I think you call them 'Wellies' or same. Cheap, waterproof, available most places 0- even up here for little cost. Why, and all those English farmers I saw can't all be wrong. Our favourite boot when wet and cold.
Sometimes alone when out hunting I lay awake looking to the night sky.
It is black and full of stars, so many you cannot count them all.
They are the spirits of ancestors who once trod our land.
I wonder when i look at them all the things they have seen, the civilisations, tribes and...
Don't take this too seriously Boatman. Your question is just the same as me asking you, why you brits didn't invent:-

Philosophy
Space travel

At over 20 posts on here we seem to be getting a lot of your opinion & knowledge Boatman? Although some of I don't understand in terms of Rick Hall and his TV programme, but then....?
I'm not aware I've given advice on this subject. Nor have I picked on you white folk. I was simply stating facts that I think are widely held. And I actually stated that some of the treaties bought us benefits.
I'm not aware I've said anything other than facts about incomers such as non...
Boatman I don't know whether this was meant for me. If it was, perhaps you could visit us and give us the benefit of your great wisdom in these matters. Perhaps you could even spare the time to show us how to survive in the forests too?

Like Santaman said. Many regs and for those of us who spend a lot of time in the bush hunting, its too difficult to do. So kids must go to school and learn the same 'history' you learn. I believe the subjects are just about the same as UK schools. They even teach us about...

Many indians...
I am glad you enjoyed your trip. Being alone in the woods and forests is a good way to reconnect with your soul and heart and to make you understand what things in life are important. To do a short trip in your canoe is also good.
If you want to do longer trips they need not cost a lot of...
It looks like our friend the Raven. They eat dead animals and also mice, voles and the like. But they'll also eat some seed and berries. What the bird can't digest it brings it up and spits it out. I can't see very well from the picture but the berries may just be the remains of old berry...
If we're travelling well south of treeline, say N. Ontario or N.Manitoba we'll use it and the peeling bark is good for kindling as you may know. Further North up towards tree-line choice is mostly only pines, of which we have a few different species.
My friend from near Whitby told me you'd had a little bad weather today. Cold, wet and windy with some small flooding of village and town.
