    A small collecton of skulls

Now that Tom, is absolutely superb. It’s a nightmare to reconstruct snake skulls. Vipers replace their fangs often, which is why you have a replacement ready to go on the one side. If you zoom in on the Gaboon skull below, you’ll see that they can have a few in reserve ready to go. The...

    Paintings & Sketches

I have a load of field study drawings somewhere that I’ll have to dig out. I used to do a lot, but don’t have the patience anymore. I did paint this replica using acrylics and gold leaf a few years ago as I couldn't find a good replica that wasn’t printed.

    UK Knife Law change?

I don’t see anything that has changed in that. Still specifies cutting edge. Unless I’m missing something.

    Orange is the New Black

Ahh, but you have a military background too. And they encourage common sense and personal liability. Or used to at least. I’ve never seen you with orange or brightly coloured kit. Or even remember you losing anything. I remember someone losing his compass on an excercise once. I don’t think...

    UK Knife Law change?

After viewing this thread I’ve also looked for the change in law. I can’t find anything substantial anywhere apart from gossip.

    Orange is the New Black

Maybe it’s a military indoctrination. You just don’t lose stuff as the repercussions are not good.

Well yeah. That’s goes without saying :beerchug:

    Orange is the New Black

Great deduction. Obviously if I’ve never used bright kit on expeditions I’ve never wild camped :think3: I can honestly say that I’ve wild camped in some of the most remote parts of the planet. Frequently. And I’ve never lost anything (apart from a machete blade :aargh: ), and a snake hook...

    Orange is the New Black

I’ve never used bright orange stuff to prevent losing my gear. I find that kit discipline and not getting drunk at night negates its use. Relying on slapping bright shiny bright colours on your kit makes you lazy and even more prone to losing your kit. Unless you plan on getting squiffy around...

    Wildlife pictures

@Wander you are 100% correct. This picture was labelled as a ‘her’ though. It’s a male. There is some crossover with markings with some females being darker than some and some males being lighter etc. Male.

    Aeging Stag Horn handles

Soak it in Danish oil for a week or so. The antler will soak it up and turn an aged yellow colour. And the Danish oil stabilises it at the same time too.

Where have all the frogs gone?

We have a fungus that is wiping out our frogs too. With mild winters and with warm spells throughout the season, fewer and fewer are surviving into Spring. It’s a problem.
