Amazon Prime - Have you quit?

I've been going through the same quandary. Having next or same-day delivery is very handy, but I think that's the last hook that's holding me. I resent having adverts on a service I'm already paying for, I resent giving money to Jeff 'penisrocket' Bezos, and their prices used to beat everyone...

Camping in Scotland in the summer - bad idea?

Many thanks for the responses. It seems like the best bet is to leave it a little later in the year, though if you do have any campsite recommendations @Toddy I'd be all ears :)

    What did you buy today?

Nice. Looks very similar to the P.A.C Knife, but without the colossal price tag https://gearconvoy.com/products/custom-p-a-c-knife-by-wilson-custom-knives

Camping in Scotland in the summer - bad idea?

I'm desperate to get some camping booked in for the summer time so I know I have something to look forward to. Wild and/or wildish campsites would be the preference. I'd love to explore Scotland; I haven't camped there since doing the West Highland Way with Scouts. But is the midge situation...

New axe, eye a bit splintered. Problem or no?

Interesting. It looks like the handle of the replacement is heartwood - it's much darker than the original. I've taken some pictures of the two side by side, I'd welcome any thoughts. (Original left, replacement right)

New axe, eye a bit splintered. Problem or no?

Thank you for all the replies and thoughts. I ordered a replacement which arrived today, and it's even drunker than the first one. So I'll return the replacement, keep the original and one day re-helve it knowing that the bar is fairly low. Pics of replacement attached (on the right)

New axe, eye a bit splintered. Problem or no?

I've just received a Hultafors 006 Trekking axe. (Ordered from Amazon as I had credit there) As you can see, the top of the handle has split somewhat where it's been wedged. This is my first axe, so just wanted a 2nd/3rd/4th opinion on whether this was par for the course or represented a...

berghaus "centurio" vs. karrimor "sabre" ?!

I'm sure other will be able to share more opinions, but for me the Centurio is let down by its waist strap - it's not padded like the sabre, it's just a webbing strap which won't be comfortable. And there are some compatibility issues with the side pouches and zips, I don't think it takes the...

    Camera or phone? (Poll experiment)

I love photography but it pains me to say it's only the phone I use these days. I have a Canon 60D and a Yashica Rangefinder, both of which I love, but it's so hard to justify lugging them around when the phone is right there in the pocket.

What's making these little holes in the ground?

This makes sense, there are definitely some badger setts in the vicinity.

What's making these little holes in the ground?

Walking in the woods in Wiltshire, lots of these little excavations along the path. We thought maybe squirrels looking for their nuts, but some of them are quite large and have move quite a lot of dirt. Can anyone enlighten me?
