What fungi did you spot today?

It kind of looked fresh. Forecast is not great, but I’ll get back tomorrow and see if I can get the lens under it. I had to flatten the grass just to expose the stem, all I noticed was the top and thought it was a ball of wet paper.

What fungi did you spot today?

Definitely nor mould, those crinkles are part of its structure. I couldn’t get under it, and don’t want to pick it.

What fungi did you spot today?

Anyone know this one? Under a young Oak on sandy reddish clay.

    Swagman Roll colours and opinions?

I’ve had 4 of them. Tiger Stripe, Desert Night Camo x 2, Earth Brown. Sold the Tiger and one of the Desert Night Camo. The brown is nice in an Obi Wan kinda way and that one lives in my van. Tiger was a bit too ninja for me, too loud for my look. Desert Night Camo is my favourite as it’s an...

    Lightning Oak

Another one. Look into the background and you can see the other one. Definitely not an area to shelter in a storm! Added a couple of extra pics, because the sun came out and really lit the park up. :)

Government Consultation - Banning Ninja Swords

Is there any chance, particularly as this doesn’t affect you in any way, that you stop trolling? It’s tedious. Maybe a picture would help you? The government are seeking views on what the legal definition of a ninja sword should be.

    Met office "faking" climate data

I’d suggest, as we’re generally British, the only way to know what the weather is doing is to talk about it with every individual we meet during our day.

    What did you buy today?

Fairly sure you could repurpose the back end of your motorbike and get a 3000rpm spin going

Sold SANDMARC iPhone 100mm Macro Lens

Checked with SANDMARC and this fits any iPhone. As the lens isn’t too unwieldy it works ok with the clothes peg type clip, but if it’s getting a lot of use you’d need to get the corresponding case for your iPhone. They do 2 types of these, the one I have is a full case, but there’s a hard...

    Lightning Oak

This would have been dramatic. It’s highly likely this is a lightning strike, the tree is in a managed deer park, locked at night, lots of walkers by day. It’s also in the centre of the park so a very unlikely place for vandalism. My guess is this was struck at night and burned throughout, then...

    Modern day Billhook

The newer version looks completely useless as a billhook for traditional use as a coppicing and hedging tool.

    Modern day Billhook

That’s nothing like the Fiskars I have. The old coppicing boys who I used to cut Chestnut for the NHS walking sticks with a few years ago quickly moved to these as tool of choice after years of Elwells and more traditional ones. They're called handbills in Sussex. These things are slim stock...
