    What did you buy today?

Just did a Google search on the image, the sellers of it that I found are all selling it as a tea light lantern, so I’d say no, just tea lights. :)

    What are you currently reading?

Oh dear, is it one of those. It’s really going to play havoc with my pedantic nature then!:banghead: :)

    What are you currently reading?

This is what I was wondering, there is a book called Wild Food by a Jason Hill, published, I think, in the 1940s. Turns out I actually had the Mears/ Hillman Wild Food book, I’d bought it when buying Ray Mears’ books when highly reduced, to add to my Bushcraft collection, totally forgot about...

Sold Carving tool clearout - Final Price Drops

Can I just check, is your Gransfors large carving axe for left handed people. My understanding is, if you’re right handed, the longer, slightly concave bevel should be on the left side when holding the axe in your right hand with the handle pointing to the floor?

    What did you buy today?

Where did you get that, looks nice. Had a look on Ali, but didn’t see any Petrified ones I liked, apart from a folding one that was shaped like a shark when open, I particularly liked the blade profile, the PFE10, it has what I think, might be called a Wharncliffe shaped blade. I like a flat...

If there is one piece of kit that’s gone, you could bring back what is it ?

I didn’t know that, I’m glad I got the hive expansion one in titanium. I’d been dithering for quite a few years before committing. It wasn’t cheap, but so light, you can just permanently pack it whether you need it or not.

    Afghan pressure cooker lead poisoning

Plumbers get “plumber’s flu” off they breathe in the PPF whatever it is thread tape when soldering. Because a birds respiration and circulation is far, far faster than ours, the fumes kill them. The lady worker at the factory (who had a baby with severe defects) described a multitude of thumps...

    Russian Army Trench Shovel

I think it looks really good, as if it was actually there at the siege of Stalingrad. I might give mine a similar treatment when I get a chance.

    Afghan pressure cooker lead poisoning

Same here with non-stick, although I tend to avoid it on principle anyway. My grandma bought one of the first Tefal saucepans when they first came out, she also used a metal spoon in it and by the time she passed way, maybe 10 or 15 years later, it was bare metal apart from the room! In the...

Wording of ‘zombie knife and machete’ ban being reported?

I think the biggest tool would be to give young people in deprived areas hope, jobs worth having and above all real, decent positive role models in youth clubs, to catch them early. A hell of a lot of knife attacks involve kitchen knives. They will always be able to access weapons of some...

    Afghan pressure cooker lead poisoning

Supposedly the aluminium/ dementia thing has been debunked, I would be more worried about non-stick finishes, having seen a documentary about it and how they lied to their female staff, who were having offspring with birth defects.

How to make a unique, razor sharp Japanese style sword with simple tools

That had me chuckling right to the end, I wonder what his neighbours were thinking? Hilarious!

    Russian Army Trench Shovel

They are a great little shovel, so sturdy. I use mine in the garden. I did file an edge on one side, but regret it a bit now, as it’s not really up to much. I might try to get a new one. I do like how yours looks without the black paint on, I thought you’d charred the handle to get it dark like...

    Afghan pressure cooker lead poisoning

I love my cast iron and copper pans, got rid of most of my alumium ones ages ago, apart from my trusty Indian style pressure cooker (Prestige).

    Afghan pressure cooker lead poisoning

Interesting, ever since I watched Simon in the Woods’ video where he made a meal using one- the first time I’d seen it, I wanted one, it just looked really cool and steam punkish! I’ve just resisted because I have a perfectly servicable one, that is actually meant to be for curries, it has the...
