Very odd indeed - I mean the first thing would be it wouldn't get held properly in the jigs and fixtures so it would be very obvious (and dangerous) during manufacturing and grinding that something was very wrong. Anything is possible but that's not something we ever actually saw our end. Which year approximately if you can recall ?

I cant give an exact date but it would have been in the mid 2000s, maybe 2005 or 6
Considering your insight in the manufacturing process and the unlikeliness of the defect occurring at that point what do you think the possibility of it actually being bent by someone after that, what is the likelihood of it snapping, how much would you need to bend it to make it stay bent and how much force would that require ?

I've never seen one snapped though I am sure somebody somewhere managed to get it right .. but we were not on the receiving end of returns from owner/user inflicted carnage .. I've seen them used as wood choppers with 4 pound hammers smacking into them repeatedly ... I've seen people jam them into a wall and stand on them ... they all survived unbent but obviously beaten up. You oftenoften see those demo videos of equipment that is unbreakable and the salesman manages to accidentally break the machine during the demo by doing something insane with the machine ...

Well i can certainly vouch for the robustness of my Mountaineer, Its put up with a fair bit of hard use without shipping any damage other than the wear to the finish. I cant say I ever tried to snap or even bend it but its it has had a few heavy impacts with no ill effects.
