What happened to this photo?

A couple of years ago I took some photos of my French Army F1 tent. The photos were taken on a Huawei Honor 20 Lite smart phone which was released in 2019. I only recently noticed something strange about one of the photos. Look at the second photo. Look at where the right hand guy lines (should) attach to the flap of fabric, like in the first picture, but is no longer there and has been replaced by grass.

I thought this is some kind of generative/reconstructive computing but then I'm not sure that sort of technology was around in phones in 2019. Then I thought maybe multiple exposures could produce it but that would have required me to have moved the camera significantly during the exposures being taken which I'm sure I didn't.

Anyway, it's bugged me enough now that I wanted to share and get more opinions.

I don't actually see a guy line in the first picture (if you're talking about the middle of the right hand side) but I do see the loop for it. And I do see the loop for the same in the second, it's to the 11oclock of the corner attachment point and due to perspective it's much closer to the nearer corner than further.

So in short, I'm not seeing anything missing. Unless it's the actual central guy line which I can't see in either photo.

I have labeled the lines A and B in the first picture so that we know which one is being discussed.

I think it's an optical illusion. The line you can see in the second picture is actually line A. In the second picture line B is hidden from sight by the tent canvas when viewed from that angle. It looks like the corner of the tent but it's not, it's the middle of that side pulled outwards by the tension of line A pulling on it.

I guess it is a bit tricky to see at first and that's probably why I didn't notice it for a years.

If you follow the first (nearest the door) guy line in the second photo, you can clearly see it's attached to the polycotton fabric of the tent. In the photo it just looks like the guy line is attached to a strip of polycotton which runs up to the tent. That strip of fabric should run all the way down to the far end of the tent, as can be seen in picture 1.

I suppose it could be an optical illusion due to looking along the edge of the fabric making it look as if it disappears. That's one hell of an optical illusion if so.

Oh yeah. I hadn't noticed the overhang on the first photo which is absent in the second. That's really weird actually!

You can see the seam/stitching line where that extra flap is attached to/meets the main material though. So yes, just an optical illusion.

Notice the shadow on the ground is still there. I'm wondering if it's because you're viewing the fabric from edge on and the fabric is drooping out of view, which I hadn't thought of before, if that makes sense. Either way it looks so weird.

It’ll be post processing. Just checked and Huawei has ‘Ultra Clarity’ mode which takes several photos in quick succession and then processes it at what it thinks is the best version, so could be that.
