What fuel do you use?

I have been using bioethanol in my trangia, I bought it in b+q - works well.

I am in the South Downs and have even avoided my trangia the past few weeks, it’s tinder dry everywhere :/

How are we supposed to cook then? FWIW I put my stove on a fibreglass mat. I am sure here that we are all careful and sensible, but yet the stores will happily sell one use barbecues which are probably responsible for most of these bush fires during the school holiday season, say no more.

The Tesco near me has taken them off the shelves

Maybe the shops should temporally stop selling disposable barbecues while everything is so dry?

Yeah we're hearing stories of the modern culprit being the disposable barbecue none see but suppose to replace the supposed but not seen discarded fag end of yore when there are distinct other possibilities like for instance litter dumped in the environment. Litter potentially in the form of discarded transparent drinks containers more commonly plastic these days but the curved shoulder of forms a lens through which light can be focused to a point and then there's the concave surface on the underside of a pressurised drinks can and am hearing from the Aussie crowd hot engine exhausts, certainly catalysers can be a cause for bush fires.

If we focus intently on one supposed source we tend not to think about other potential sources and we know full well we're rather good at littering the environment we enjoy

We do need to minimise the risk and I would say it is no co-incidence that the peak of grass and woodland fires occurs during the school holidays, but no reason to penalise people who are responsible and careful.

No not drunk, it's an affliction I have in that I don't follow the herd and in not following the herd I am not predisposed to jumping to conclusions based upon thus far no evidence found. Further because of my interest in bushcraft/survival I know there are many ways in which dry tinder can be ignited as yes with these wild fires we are talking about dry tinder.

Sandwiches work, or sausage rolls, pasties, fruit, a bag of crisps...... I don't even cook most of my meals at home at this time of year, who wants hot food in this weather?

The world's a tinderbox right now, if you can't spend time in the outdoors without setting fire to something (meths/gas/petrol/hexamine etc. included) then maybe you're not actually a bushcrafter.

Can’t drink cold tea. Good lord, that would be the limit of my endurance.
