'ello there. Like that you like beekeeping, had a shortlived job where I picked a bit of that up (long time ago now though). Cool name, the Dipper is a wonderful bird.
Cheers mate!
Thanks - drystone walling is something I’d love to learn the basics of. There’s a tumbled dyke out the back I’ve set my sites on reinstating in the future. Like everything it’s getting the time!

No worries, when you get round to fixing your dyke I would be happy to give you a hand and "show as we go"-won't take as long that way!
If you can find a copy, the BTCV put out an excellent book on it called simply "Dry Stone Walling-a Practical Handbook" out of print, sadly and one of a series- including Hedgelaying.
My browser tells me the 'bay are selling them around the forty pounds mark.....
I wonder whether your dyke(s) are "Random" (higgledy pigglledy, all the sizes mixed up) or "Coursed" (rows of similar sizes, all level, more like a coarse of bricks)? Not that it matters, the same basic principles apply.
How long a stretch is down roughly, would you say?

Just to add,the BTCV book is available cheaper elsewhere- Summerfield books have it for nineteen pounds fifty plus seven ninety five pnp....

That’s really helpful, thank you for the steer on the book and an offer of guidance. I’ll certainly take you up on that sometime, on the basis that I can offer something in return.

Didn’t know how to attach photos to this reply but have put some in the photos forum for you to see the dyke https://bushcraftuk.com/community/threads/drystone-dyke.167981/ .
I think it’s slightly layered - in total approx 150m boundary of which 50m or so is tumbled.
