Off the beaten track
I’ve definitely noticed a difference locally in the weather systems we’ve had this winter. Whilst it’s been windier, it’s also been drier and colder than average. We don’t usually get frosts in the valley here but have had a fair few, which has had a positive impact on the plant life in the garden. Germinating seeds rather than drowning them and killing off pests.

What is everyone’s thoughts about the la nena and how has it affected you, positively or negatively perhaps?

Liked their 1st song in the 80's , very catchy-

Can't beat some Cold war related lyrics intertwined with some celebratory inflatable objects floating across an empty military training ground with a heavy application of coloured smokes. Classic.

Sorry Dave.

I did go to see if I could find some historic data the other day to show that there was a definite change or cycle but failed.
I am interested to see if there is anything credible.

Comparing this winter/spring to last couple.....

Spring sprouting was a couple of weeks later this year...... blossom and daffodils in particular.

We have had a SE wind for a while now. Whereas prevailing direction is usually SW. Noticable in the garden.

March has been drier than the past couple of years, to the extent that we've had a bunch of grass fires in Wales again.

That's how it feels from perspective of monitoring a garden in a specific area of SW Wales.

I was trying to recollect how my perception and memory of weather has been over the last few decades - I'm not convinced it has changed - If I remember my childhood I 'want' to say I think I remember the winters as generally colder and drier but It would feel colder i think as things tend to get over amplified by the passing of time and I was probably running around in shorts and a tank top.

Last ten years - maybe wetter as general - Can't remember when the Beast from the East landed on our shores but was that a counter cycle La Nina event or just a freak anomaly?
