Just recieved it here internationally. Only took two weeks from the UK, arrived as described, perfect condition, looks new from the supplier SAS Surplus 007 on ebay. First thoughts are its quite compact which is good. its specced as 55 to 60L on the internet, which seems about right. Being a top loader you can stack higher if needed. The old Berghaus Vulcan I just retired was a bit large and looked overkill for overnighters which my trips are more often these days.. Still figuring out how I want all the straps to work but got the compression straps sorted enough to pose my 44 mag carbine with the pack( it gets a waterproof cover for real hikes).

I extended the back to full length which works for me being 6'3" and long spine. Feels quite comfortable, can manage to get a decent bit of weight onto the hips. I have a barrel chest like a rugby player had offspring with something in the zoo, also skinny legs so things tend to slip off my hips but this pack feels good. Any big guys reading this post in the future this pack will cover you.

Plan is to use it like this 99% of the time, only add PLCE rocket packs for extended hikes.

I wanted to thanks the fellas here for their advice on this on the other thread, in parricular lostplanet who found me the link to buy it.

Some photos below with my 1-3 day kit loaded.

Thanks fellas. We have the wet season at the moment so when it clears for a day I will take it for a decent walk with pics. Dont actually mind a walk in the rain as long as Im used to a packs configuration. Nothing worse than working out straps or packing up slowly in a downpour

I have had my Strike for a while now and just starting to mod it. Lovely bits of kit.
Only complaint would be the shoulder straps are a bit thin, it a weird one.
Watch side pockets as I had fun getting side pockets due to zip direction issues.

What’s the strike?

Yeah the Lowe-alpine made bags zip bottom to top and the Dutch army clones are top to bottom

The strike is the 40L day sack. I assume the thin straps are to be less bulky. Maybe for when wedged in a vehicle, chucked on over yoke or under the lid of a big bag.

Well I loaded the sting up fellas for a walk, and not sure if it rides too well for me. its possible im not adjusting things correctly. I might take a few photos with me wearing it to get an opinion on whether its sitting right

Not quite the same bag but the same system from the same manufacturer and with colour coding, the sting you can just count the adjustment points to get the inches.

Well worth spending the time, I had mine set up as I assumed I had a long torso as I am tall, but after measuring I came down a couple notches and it was *way* better

There is:
- back adjustment up and down
- sternum strap up and down and tightness
- load lifter strap above the shoulders
- waist belt side strap adjustment
- waist belt front adjustment

Will take a bit of fiddling to get the back perfect and the waist belt perfect at the sides then these can be left alone, the others can be adjusted in the fly for comfort

Happy to take photos of mine to help

I think part of the problem is my upper body, barrel chest. Im about 18 stone, fairly fit and skinny legs. Will measure myself as per the video, thanks, and make some adjustments to the straps. Im fairly confident Im long spined as I used a berghaus vulcan size 4, the longest one for years. Its oh so comfortable.

I think part of the problem is my upper body, barrel chest. Im about 18 stone, fairly fit and skinny legs. I just dont think there is enough adjustment in some of the straps to make it comfortable, the pack has some margin of accomodation but not great for gorillas.

I put on my old berghaus vulcan again just for old times sake. Its a size 4, the longest one. The pack is a bit decayed and went a bleached yellow colour some time ago so I dont use it anymore . But gee its comfortable. No fussing about, just clip it on and forget its there.

The sting may be just a less comfortable pack that I have to get used to. It just feels very 'narrow' on the back and 'waggles' more, aka rocks left and right when I walk. Also tight across the chest and shoulders.
Rocks left and right? Have you tightened up the hip cinch straps that run from the base of the bag to about halfway along the strap? If you don’t know what I mean I can nip out and take a photo of mine

Me Ed, thanks, any chance of seeing you wearing the pack ? Feel free to PM or line up email. Understand if you dont want to model it. Just curious as to how it sits on other folks. I'll get some photos of myself in a day or two and post them up here

Yeah sure, won’t be able to until the weekend but I can load it up with my usual load and wear it for you no problem

So here are some photos gents. It feels a bit better, and btw regards my mode of dress Im not leading some construction workers rebellion here Had to do some wheelbarrowing and gardening so put the pack on to give it a workout. Is this how these normally sit. Feels not too bad.

Yes that’s broadly how mine sits, I have the shoulder lift straps snugged up a bit tighter though to bring the top of the pack closer to my back

They are about where the blue line is

You and I look broadly the same build, I will take photos of mine tomorrow
