Like dj77, I use Camellia oil on my "food" blades, in fact, all my blades, to avoid any contamination from petro chemicals. Makes a very good, although expensive, furniture polish as well.
The tang is interesting, I guess best described as a Full Length Flat Semi Tang. Love the see an Xray to see how the tang lines up with the pins and lanyard hole. Looks mighty tempting though regardless.
No plantings as yet until I find "my place". Looking at NE Vic so should be cool enough in Winter, not sure how they would cope with the summer though. More research required.
Yep, also commonly called the "Cider Gum" for obvious reasons. No personal experience but something I definitely want to grow and try out in the future.
