Crossbow and broadhead sales ban and crossbow licensing one step closer.

I think the comparison to motor vehicles is becoming a bit of a distraction. There are 42.4 million vehicles in the UK according to google, and 300,000 crossbows. The majority of UK households have a vehicle, or 2, or more. The vast minority of UK households have a crossbow. A would be...

If such legislation came in it’ll take a while. There will be consultation with any interested parties, appeals, exemptions for museums and historical societies etc. Will be a while off yet if it happens

I would imagine similar to a shotgun ticket, of good character, no criminal convictions for firearms or certain violent offences, safe storage.

I imagine there will be a grace period in which an owner can apply for the licence, the options being: 1. Surrender them in an amnesty or buy back scheme (as seen recently) 2. Register and apply for a licence for the ones you have. There are already procedures and law in place for...

Cars are restricted and registered. If you have one “off ticket” and unregistered there are powers in place to deal with that.

No. Murder is the end action, so if someone has the intent they can still strangle someone. But that’s actually quite hard, takes a lot to do, the perpetrator might lose. Preventing the end action is very hard, but there is a lot of things in place to reduce the risks. This restriction is...

I don’t own a crossbow so my view is an outsider looking in. A problem I can see is the amount of tactical style crossbows, with videos of people shooting ballistic gel, sides of meat and human manakins to test or demonstrate their killing power. Videos about crossbows for home defence or...

If you keep a crossbow for target shooting and have space to shoot, or access to a range etc would you apply for the licence? Would anyone here not apply?

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

Even on here there was a definite sharing of craft materials, clothing patterns etc A lot was reliant on the postal service still going obviously

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

I think Covid was a pretty good example of a “softer” event (yes I know was very serious for some) In my experience there was a good degree of sharing resources, delivered by dead letter box drops. Nothing major, just a “I have no pasta” and “I have two bags, I’ll drop some off” etc There...

    What is wrong with people

I would usually defend the homeless but sadly the above isn’t always the case in my experience. I used to walk through the Vauxhall viaduct daily, in the morning there would be 15-20 people sleeping (safer to sleep during the day and be awake at night) Well meaning people would place shop...

    What is wrong with people

There’s an alleyway near me that runs between the housing and the school. It’s also someone’s drinking den it seems, as every morning it’s full of empty bottles. I doubt it’s the local youth, as it’s Newkey brown, spitfire and bishops finger bottles. The local street cleaner has started...
