I used a Grumman inflatable canadian in Australia a few years ago.
At first I was somewhat dubious but we had six boats and spent five weeks on the Snowy river and the boats handled everything we threw at them, including grade four rapids.
Suffice to say I would would recommend them highly...
Vasiline is perfect mate, I use it as a finish on all leather work as it softens and protects.
You would need to consume quite a lot before it can do any damage to your intestines.
It works well as a barrier to oxygen ie rusting on carbon blades and I've used it to no detriment on my 460 year...

Hi this is my first attempt at a leather stacked hand on a knife.
I used a number of veg tanned offcuts some of which had been dyed in various browns and a few in red. Glued together with Devcon-2 tonne epoxy.
The ferrul and bolster are from japanese white oak which came from an old...
The joint only needs to hold the cross member in place whilst putting the whole together, ie it doesn't need to be a tight fitting joint like it would with furniture.

After making one "in the field" from some Hazel I thought I should try a more re-usable one.
Made from Cuban Mahogany it's no masterpiece but works well.
21 inch blade and 18 inch uprights.
Critiques always welcome.
