Another bag, finally happy so will probably be the last for a while

Very nice! Quality bit of sewing there. Is there anything to gather the top opening under the flap? Drawcord or such?

Two tent choices (MSR and Nordisk) and... really, how important is Hydrostatic Head?

I have an MSR Mutha Hubba NX that I've been using for a couple of years. Never had any problems with rain getting in, even in some pretty serious storms; if you buy the groundcloth, it can be pitched outer first. The material is very thin though, so I do worry about abrasion. Overall I trust...

What is in your medical/first aid kit, show and tell

My kit generally contains the following: -antiseptic wipes, gauze, and tape (can be cut to cover most wound sizes) -burn cream -butterfly closures -tweezers, a needle and a Victorinox classic (scissors) -a lip balm tube filled with antiseptic salve -a credit...

The Frame Backpack Project (Pic heavy)

Excellent work! I've meddled with making my own pack in the past, but never with as much success as you've had. I admire your dedication.

    Heating a tent

The 'river rocks exploding' thing is caused by water which has worked its way into tiny cracks in the rock expanding when heated, and forcing the rock apart. Poncho design ideas

The other day I found an orphaned tent fly for $2 at a thrift store, so I bought it thinking I could turn it into a poncho. I'm not a huge fan of ponchos with a neck-hole in the middle (as with the US ones) so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with other designs that eliminate it (the...

Not strictly bushy but quite good

I saw an article on the BBC today talking about a Chinese firm that is 3D printing concrete houses. "The Future" is nearly upon us.

    Airlines and Rucksacks

What is the best way to protect an internal-frame pack from the savages of air travel? My 65L pack is too large for a carry-on, but I would like to find it intact upon arriving at my destination, if possible.

    Keeping stuff clean

I keep all my kit sorted in little bags with carabiners attached, then hang them either from my ridgeline or from the outside of my pack when in camp. Using a different material for each bag helps make it easier to find what you are looking for even in the dark (it's hard to tell colour by feel).

    Hello from B.C.

Hello all; I’ve been skulking about the forum for a couple of years now, so I finally decided it was time to man up and start contributing myself. Living in British Columbia, bushcraft opportunities are numerous (will be canoeing the Bowron Lake circuit next year) and I’m looking forwards to...
