    good widemouth stainless steel -bottle?

I have no fear of aluminum cookware, it was all a scam to sell coated cookware. Your body absorbs more aluminum from Anti-perspirant and antacid tabs than it ever will from cooking in aluminum and as long as you do not polish the inner surface no problem. It is the oxidizing while cooking that...

    Sigg water bottle fail

Sigg has had a big drop in quality the last few years, I get better quality from the 5 dollar stainless bottles from Wal-Mart.

    Nalgene bottle, funny Taste?

Denture tabs also work for camelbaks and are cheaper than camelbak cleaning tabs.

    Nalgene bottle, funny Taste?

I've never had that prob but all my nalgene bottles are the old type. Try a denture cleaning tablet, fill the bottle drop in the tablet let set overnight then rinse in the morning, works great on my scummy army canteens.

For muli-fuel I use a MSR Whisperlite International and an Optimus Nova B, with these 2 I always carry a maintenance kit and a tube of Coleman Lubricant. I...

The load out- a guide and example (pic heavy)

I have to disagree about the fire stiker as un-neccesary, it is a survival essential. 3 forms of fire making, survival rule of 3. Every year here in the mountains (Canada & US) they pull out casualties that got into trouble by not taking needed gear with them.

Osprey Canteen from BCB Crusader kit BPA free?

Why are you worried about BPA? You would have to cut up & eat 100 of those canteens to any suffer ill effects from BPA. The whole BPA scare was a marketing ploy to sell new products, the same as aluminum a few years earlier, your body absorbs more aluminum from anti-perspirant or antacid tablets...

    US ECWCS Goretex jacket

The Gen 1 ones had a heavier Gore-tex with smaller micro pores thats why they get clammy, Gen 3 has bigger pores so breaths much better not sure about Gen 2. As for the liner it should be button in [on the Gen 1 & 2] polyester batting the same as a US poncho liner. Gen 3 is polar fleece and...

When it comes to staying warm surplus is great, it keeps the cost down and is built tough. Unless you are a victim of fashion.
