    Canvas mini Alice pack

I've never known a pack so big and heavy that can hold so little as an ALICE pack. The NZDF are issued a version of the ALICE pack and it's the worst thing I've ever carried. So much so I went and bought a decent civvie pack (Karrimor) in DPM so I'd never have to carry a POS Alice pack again.

    Military contract / civilian purchase

Swazi were making wet weather clothing for the NZDF (not sure if they still are - contract might have gone to china now). Victorinox - NZDF Issue this knife: http://www.victorinox.com/product/1/100/1004/0.8453.3 Spyderco - We also have the Spyderco Rescue as an issue item in aircrew survival...

    A Question From The Un-Initiated :)

It's mostly just a gimmick, especially since tha vast majority of lights that have strobe function are Chinese 'tacticool' lights.

    Spyderco BCUK Bushcrafter REDUCED

I'd be cautious using baking powder, this used to be a very fashionable filler for model aircraft, but after about five years horror stories started emerging of those (now five year old) models that had a very nasty mess where the super glue/baking powder mix was breaking down into a gooey mess...

    Alice packs

We have them issued at work I love them so much I went and spent about $600NZD on a Karrimor 60-100 so I never have to carry a damn ALICE pack again! Never has such a bulky, awkward pack been designed that can hold so little. Of course much of my issue with it comes from the fact that about 10...

    Which Digital watch?

I've got a green G Shock 'Mudman' that only has date and time. http://www.g-shock.co.nz/Casio-G-Shock-New-Zealand/G90003V I know it looks like it's got all sorts of extra flashing bits, but in normal time mode it's just the date and time.

    Maglite Doctor Needed, Tempremental Maglite

Sounds like dirty contacts. Take the tailcap off and remove the spring. Take out the batteries. Remove the head and pull out the bulb. If your feeling a wee bit brave: (Carefully leaver off the plastic disc labelled 'do not remove'. slide the internals out, be careful as there are two...

    3 C cell maglite...any LED conversions available?

If $65 is a bit much try: http://www.led-replacement.com/tle-6exb.html However... these tend to be a bit underwhelming, although better than the niteize. The main issue is the heatsinking. There is no mass to draw away the heat from the LED, so performance and lifespan is severely limited...

    3 C cell maglite...any LED conversions available?

There's really only one game in town for quality LED drop ins: http://www.malkoffdevices.com/shop/c-23-cell-dropin-to-fit-maglite-p-4.html Gene Malkoff makes the highest quality LED drop ins for both Maglite and Surefire.

    Thermals

Marino - light, warm, doesn't itch (I do not like traditional wool, but have no issues with marino). It doesn't smell as bad as synthetics. Doesn't have the plasticy feel of polypro Works when wet.

    Wire/Chain saws

I've got one from a Martin Baker ejection seat survival pack, and if used carefully it cuts quite well. I haven't used it much, and I would imagine it would kink quite easily.
