    Small lighters

Yeah, Canadian. We have a sporting good chain called LeBaron that has really good prices on most things. Often less than the MSRP's. Sometimes significantly less in the case of knives and flashlights (torches). Not sure how they do it, but I'm not going to complain. The website is a...

    Small lighters

Yeah, I got the Inova keychain light a while ago, it was about $6 (I think about #3 (sorry, don't have the pound currency symbol)), but the design was such that it kept turning on in my pocket, so the batteries ran down after a couple weeks. New batteries were going to cost more than a new...

    DIY Midge Eater

Oh, I see now. I think what these do is slowly burn the propane, producing heat and CO2, which is a simplified version of a human. Mosquitoes (and I'm guessing midges) use their sense of (smell?) to find a CO2 source, then when they're close enough, they use infrared (heat) vision to pinpoint...

    Small lighters

I just ordered some of these yesterday. Crazy. Along with a bunch of those cheap LED keychain lights. Actually I got the other model, with the flat bottom, but basically the same deal. Cheap enough to have one everywhere, and the fluid shouldn't evaporate.

And I don't think you have to worry about patents if you're just making one for yourself. The patent only restricts the sale of the patented product I believe.

    Thin ally or steel

I know of a handy place to get sheet aluminum about the thickness of a Pepsi can... try the grocery store, it comes wrapped around pressurized liquid to maintain it's shape ;). Although a regular soft drink can looks like it would be too small for what you want, one of the big 950 mL cans of...

Sooo I snapped the tip off

Yep, it's the #1240: Or you can make your own, with the KB 122, although it's more of a wharncliffe:

I think you can buy a sheepsfoot Mora. Check Ragweed Forge. Not that I'm recommending you deprive yourself of the enjoyment of hours of sanding, but I don't see any reason not to just add another to the collection :)

    Coppertone Sport SPF 48

I was checking out Coppertone's Canadian web site, and I can't find any SPF 48 "sport" products. They do have some gel ones that would probably be transparent and non greasy, but I don't know if they're what you're looking for. Their American website does show an SPF 50 sport version, but I...

    Non-convex axe grind?

My Gerber/Fiskars axe came with a flat grind. It was actually a flat sabre-ish main grind with a secondary hollow grind. I never used it as is, though, and flattened the secondary bevel and convexed the transition between the two. Don't know why it came like that, as a hollow grind just seems...

    Puuko blade?

Have you looked at Ragweed Forge? Ragnar seems to have a pretty comprehensive selection, sorted by country of origin and manufacturer. http://www.ragweedforge.com/ It does seem a little odd to buy a Scandinavian knife from an American, but you might find what you're looking for.

    Coppertone Sport SPF 48

Was it a cream, or one of the spray kinds?

All fired up and no-one to flame??

Summer's on the way? We just got 30 cm of snow in Toronto. ;) We don't have sidewalks in our neighborhood anymore, and I think the dog's going to start burrowing through the snow rather than try to stay on top of it.

Very strange large animal track 'does anyone know what it is?'

Never having heard of a coypu, I looked it up and apparently a coypu and a nutria are the same thing. Probably what it is, although I've never seen one. They do look like beaver tracks, but the webbing is missing. Assuming our beavers are the same as yours?
