    Hello from William, London

    What tipped you off?

National Risk Register/National Resilience Update - Nothing new to us.

I’m not a prepper but just reading what is said on line - I’m not sure that many preppers know what they are prepping for. There doesn’t seem to be an “End Game.” (My information is limited.) It seems to some extent to be wishful thinking: that “the establishment” will be removed and we shall...

National Risk Register/National Resilience Update - Nothing new to us.

Don’t you believe it. No, they wouldn’t do it your way but they’d get by and get by well. It’s easy to forget what the WW2 returning soldiers said about Teddy boys and later the 60’s “puffters”. [That was an historical reference to a generalisation by more than one of my neighbours when I was...

National Risk Register/National Resilience Update - Nothing new to us.

I wonder how many people here have seen the film The War Game. I saw it in Ireland when it was banned in UK. It’s been broadcast several times since it’s 20 year ban. Far from horrifying me it made me realise how little I can do (but I can do that little.) and how very important cooperation...

National Risk Register/National Resilience Update - Nothing new to us.

I believe that attitude to living is one of the most important issues in well-being. (It’s, in part only, why I seek adequacy rather than perfection.) If I were to be concerned about supplies of material currently available to me such as energy, food or water, I have the capacity and will to do...

    What did you buy today?

…….. with the Knightly Headbanger? Who is to be the unfortunate recipient of its attentions?

    WHAT DID YOU MAKE TODAY?

@Woody girl If that was a serious question - No you shouldn’t worry. There is a huge difference between forgetfulness associated with aging and clinical memory loss/confusion. There was a New Scientist article about the difference published a few weeks ago. I’ll dig it out if it’s of...

Living on your own land legally. What actually works and what catches people out.

@sacreman This has been much discussed here in BcUK. An exchange of views (please- among other subjects) could be interesting. Maybe provide material for your second edition.

What is an every day carry really when you get down to it?

In BcUK IRC, an SAK and an FAK are mandatory EDC. IMHO @Woody girl is right acronyms in conversation = NBG. For reasons beyond my understanding a handkerchief and my car keys don’t count so I don’t EDC an HK or CK’s

    Carnation Condensed Milk

Ah! Perhaps it could make a good bushcraft flypaper. There had to be some use for it. I’m with @Tengu and I’m not going to stick that stuff in my mouth.

    Best pot gripper

Right, I know that you perfectionists are going to cringe but I’m an adequist, I’ve spent fifteen minutes on this and it will do. In the words of the man who invented the automotive clutch: C’est moche, mais ça marche. It’s ugly but it works. It’s strong enough to support a pan full of food...

    Phone line replacement

I asked for an old pole when they replaced ours. The Polish (well he was!) team leader would have given it to me for fire wood but persuaded me not to take it. Apparently the tar quickly clogs up any saw that you use on it including chain saws.
