My Gransfors Small Forest has disappeared. It was in the van with a Silky, but I took it out as I didn’t want it left in there long term. Then it’s been to a fro from house to van, now I’ve got the Silky indoors, but cannot find the axe anywhere!
I may have stuffed it in the back of the van...
I reckon those are the flies Crosslandkelly linked to. I couldn’t walk the dog after dark with a torch without being in the middle of a cloud of them, and hundreds were getting in the house. I had switch all the lights off to empty the vac outside after hoovering them up.

We had those things a couple of years ago, they’re not midges. I was hoovering literally hundreds off the ceiling every time I opened the front door in the evening.
The old partner, William, of Michael Pitt-Rivers used to come to the local pub and ask for his favourite delicacy of the young flower spikes dipped into a thin tempura batter and quickly deep fried. He’d eat them with a lemon mayonnaise.
