    Stoat at Lathkill Dale

Well it had a black end to its tail so assume it was a stoat! And yer shame I didn't have my camera, at that moment I had my binos round my neck , not my SLR

    Stoat at Lathkill Dale

Had a share what I saw yesterday, out walking along Lathkill Dale near Bakewell, and spotted a stoat running along the path pushing a duck egg! Never seen one before, so to see one so close and do something quite different was pretty exciting! Also saw my first grey wagtail.

    G1000 and hem tape

I've just got my first pair of Fjallraven, and taken them out for their first spin today, thoroughly impressed! Went for the Barents Pro Jeans, also bought a pair of Karl Pro but decided on the simplicity and toughness of the Barents (that said i've not sent them back, must resist the urge to...

    Lost Torch

Evening folks! Now i've just got back from a fantastic weekend in snowdonia, and am very upset, I seem to have misplayed my torch! Its been through many adventure with me over the years and i'm gutted to have lost it! Now I don't want anyone to go out of their way, but if anyone happens to...

    Securing a DC4

Hmm not sure about the method shown in the video about carving a support for it, you'd need a sharp knife to cut that to sharpen your knife!

    Jacket material- more breathability

I'm a very hot walker, ie i sweat lot, and am a big fan of the keela dual system protection system. It keeps me drier than any other jacket i've tried in heavy rain and the inner wicking liner keeps my sweat at bay. Its a really rugged jacket and the hood is fantastic (alot of hoods frustrate...

Metal Tool Manufacture in a Survival Situation

Have any of you seen the film 'The Hunted' with Tommy Lee Jones? There's a scene in it where the guy being chased strips a leaf spring, makes a tiny fire and forges it into a knife, no bellows or anything! And all this seems to happen in no time at all. At the same time, tommy has fashioned a...

British Army Basha/Tarp tested in heavy rain last night!

I have used an army issue basha extensively, in everything from torrential rain to 6+ inches of snow, and not a single problem so i'd suggest you have a cheap rip off unfortunately!

    Large knives: advantages & disadvantages...

I have the J Adams MOD Survival knife you linked, and its a fantastic knife for chopping etc, but too big and bulky for alot of the stuff your 4 inch will be good at. I'd recommend it as a secondary camp knife, but not a primary knife if that makes sense?

    What did you buy today?

Yer chuffed to bits! All i've had before is a mora clipper and MOD survival knife, so to say this is an upgrade is an understatement! Cheers Rob!

    What did you buy today?

Well, complete impulse purchase, but there are times you see something and you know, that you just have to have it. Rarely. But on monday I saw Rob Evans post a couple of knives up and his Woodlore clone... Well, i coughed up some pennies and it arrived today (his photos, i've not had a chance...
