What do they smell like - if it's possible to describe
I dried brown birch bolete a couple of years ago and put it in a soup - never again. Total waste of time and effort.
Dried some chanterelles yesterday and looking forward to using them and seeing if the flavour gets stronger - apparently it does after drying.

Really not sure what it is mate - would need more information about where you found it growing ie with a particular tree near the verge etc.
From the pics i can't tell you what it might be but I am generally familiar enough with most of the main edibles we have to have a stab at id-ing - afraid...
