Kelly kettle or the ghillie kettle

How do you lift it up without burning your hand? Similar to the video but a bit different. I have always had the handle to the other side from the spout, and once I'm ready to take the kettle off the burner I take off the whistle holding it by the bakelite style knob, and then using the chain...

Kelly kettle or the ghillie kettle

I've got 2 Ghillies. A big one and a wee one. Use the wee one the most as I'm solo most of the time, but I like them both. Sometimes wish I had a stainless steel storm kettle (whatever the brand) but so far haven't noticed any issues with the aluminium ones. I like the whistle on the Ghillies so...

    Handkerchiefs

I always carry a hankie, but never clean my glasses with it. My dad used to carry 2, one in each pocket. One for glasses, one for nose and other duties. Don't know if I'm being dim, but not sure I understand why you would switch to paper tissues when you have a cold. Surely by that stage you...

Victorinox - Small things but nice

Yes, #1 is a watch case opener. I have a Renata batteries branded Victorinox one with alloy scales. https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Watch+Case+Opener+Victorinox The Classic SD's look like toys, but they are surprisingly handy. A really useful little tool that is so innocuous looking...

    What did you buy today?

One of these. Casström No.10 Swedish Forest Knife limited edition. Bog oak handle scales and A8Mod steel. It is a lovely thing and nice to finally add a scandi grind knife to my arsenal. Looking forward to testing it out soon.

    Bushcraft show 2024 ..what tent?

Vango Force 10 Classic? 3 man version probably a decent size for 2 plus a bit of space to spare. https://www.blacksofgreenock.co.uk/force-ten-classics/force-ten-classic-std-mk4-tent Edit to add: these tents are much nicer to sleep in than nylon/polyester tents IMHO.

    water bottles and water

Interesting. My 'newest' camelbak is probably 12 years old now, but I don't have as much use for them these days so wouldn't invest in a new one to check. I've noticed a metallic taste from alluminium bottles, but the SS ones just seem as good as glass or ceramic to me.

    water bottles and water

Am I the only person that thinks camelbak's and some plastic bottles impart a 'taste' to the water? For that reason I prefer to use stainless steel Klean Kanteen bottles. I have 4 x 800ml and 1 x 400ml which is usually plenty for my small adventures. A couple have sport caps which are good for...

    Hello

Welcome in. One of my dream jobs you have there. Only problem is I can't draw for toffee, so it never worked out for me! :D Would we have seen your work anywhere?

    Outhaus Hobart 900 swag

I have one. Really nice bit of kit for car or canoe camping, but I wouldn't want to walk a mile with it, let alone 4-5 miles! YMMV though, quite literally! Really good review posted on SoTP forum by forum owner John a few years back. Might be worth a look...
