Difference being..all examination requirements for those professions you mentioned are independently adjudicated by a board of examiners. NCFE & IOL Bushcraft Quals are adjudicated by the individual provider....who make up their own course prices...there is no external independent examination...

I had several years of 'dirt' time before I joined the Army...the Army gave more opportunities to challenge my knowledge & skills in different environments & climates which I then carried on when I left. I actually didnt know about bushcraft until I met John Fenna in 2006.

It is impossible to learn everything that is encompassed within the unmbrella term.of Bushcraft without a lifetimes worth of experience and even then you will still be a student with more to learn. Who is going to do the assessments? You would need experts from every field and in every...

    £250 survival knife...

The Survival knife is the knife / blade you have with you if and when you get into a survival situation...and if you do get into a survival situation you'd be better spending your money on a PLB or Satellite Tracker that can get you rescued.

NCFE Level 3 is supposed to be aquivalent to an 'A' Level..the real qualification that takes 2 years of solid study to accomplish. How can a week playing and glamping in the snow be equivalent to an A Level qualification lol. Spend a weekend foraging and you can get another A Level...

The Case for Competence Over Credentials in Bushcraft and Survival For centuries, the skills...

    Navigation teaching/learning

I guess for me it was learning to orienteer with just the map and pacing before learning how to use a compass properly. DDCRAPS is a great training aid.

    Buschcraft, fishing and PTSD

I was diagnosed with PTSD and went through 2 years of therapy with NHS Veterans Wales. A combination of CBT & EMDR which worked to a certain degree but I found that being in my woods and wandering the land post treatment has helped immensely. I still have my dark days and my wife picks up on it...
