It depends what sort of person you are If you have no neighbours of they don't mind noise. But also how much will you look after it , Ive bought saws in the past that have been left in the shed so long the petrol has evaporated, and the leftover oil residue has blocked up the carb,.... so...

Makita make some nice electric chainsaws around that price range.

Probably was over cooked a bit, the problem was (other than stupidity/ignorance) the forge is too small so it was hard to get an even heat ,so I spun it round . I didn't get a chance to anneal it , I just cleaned off the slag after the warm sump oil quench ,so I could see the colour change...
