I have worked as a maint. man on a campground for 6 years, always around water of some kind. For 4 years I have had the same pair of Carolina Logger Boots and are still as water proof as the day I bought them.
Doc Martens or Cats for me for years. Comfy and they last. I've got a pair of Beta shoes ATM. Carbon toe caps = very light on the feet. Like wearing slippers.
As for spending reasonable money on work shoes? I work 4 on 4 off, 12 hour shifts. So a quarter of my life in them. More than any of...
Tongue pads work best for me. I've tried heel liners and I always have a hard time lining them up just right. They tend to wear out quickly and migrate after a few wears. Insoles are fine in some shoes but they do tend to crowd the shoe and make for a tighter fit than I would like.
