    Oil For Carbon Steel Query

Just a little advice required please guys... If I'm using camellia oil to protect/clean my bush knife, am I still ok to use the knife for food prep? I only ask because I saw on Mr Mears' website that camellia oil contains liquid paraffin and presumed this not to be a tasty ingredient to add to...

    My new SWC Knife!

Hi Drew, Great looking knife! I know this is a while after you posted these pics but I'm planning to order an SWC knife this week and was wondering about the width and profile of the handle scales?! I'm cursed with big hands and therefore tempted to ask for a wider handle but if he does...

    Convex grind question (Help appreciated!!)

Fair comments chaps!!! I think I will do as suggested by all you guys and contact the maker, explain my thoughts and see what can be done. If it ends up that my fav bush knife will have a convex grind then............ so be it!!! I'll just have to ''man up'', learn to sharpen...

    Convex grind question (Help appreciated!!)

I don't want it to come across that I'm slating his work because as I said it's a lovely knife and I would still reccomend him but I'm just not sure about the grind... for my own preference. What are your thoughts rapid boy? Do you re-profile knives or know anyone that does or can it be done...

    Convex grind question (Help appreciated!!)

Hi Stanley, On the site it said the knife would be ''flat (scandi)'' but it definately appears to go from flat to convex. Possibly will do as you and Rat said but the info I mentioned in my response to Rats advice is making me reluctant. Thanks for the advice tho guys

    Convex grind question (Help appreciated!!)

Cheers rat, yeah that was perhaps a little insensitive but without intention I can assure!!! Got nothing but praise really as I have voiced on here before and the grind issue is just preference I suppose.. However... I did think to do what you advised before my post but I have read a...

    Convex grind question (Help appreciated!!)

Hello there Bush folk! Got a new woodlore clone(ish) a month ago. Lovely knife but if I'm being honest it didn't have a particularly sharp edge when I got it and the grind is slightly convex which with my relatively amateur skills I am struggling to get it as sharp as I'd like!! I find...

    Snapped My Firesteel!!!!

Hi there, I'm quite new to all this so I'm just after some advice as to whether or not anyone's heard of new fire steels breaking before!? I'd only used it for about 15 strikes, max! I used the back of my knife. (Woodlore design) And in my amateur opinion I didn't strike it aggressively or...

    Carbon steel question! (New member)

Thanks very much guys!! Like the oil cloth in film canister idea.. might have to follow suit! As far as Lanolin goes, I'm going to a sheep farm tommorrow and I believe it comes from sheeps wool so with a kind word or two to the farmer, I might be able to relieve him of some!! Please...
