    hi all.

The highlight of my week, packing my egg mayonnaise sandwiches into my bag grabbing my mac and venturing out. Also gave me my first knife when I was 14 and that I should give him a silver coin. The puzzled look on people's faces when I do it now are priceless.

    hi all.

First of all I've been using this site for a couple of months now, only posted a few threads but it will increase . The responses have been brilliant and very helpful. Much better than my previous experiences with forums. Just thought I'd introduce myself, from Sheffield studying...

    What have you learned recently?

I've experienced the joy of majorly cutting back a hawthorne tree. Sarcasm very much intended!

Why do bushcraft and survival skills?

Oh I'm not debating the fact that gps units and apps aren't amazing pieces of kit, I have some. have a back up plan. It was just the fact that they stopped me and was slightly mocking in the way they asked.

Why do bushcraft and survival skills?

Whilst walking in the peaks a few months ago I stopped and looked at the map with the compass and had the pleasure of having 2 men stop and ask why I was still using a compass when you're phone can get gps. After asking what they would do if their phones died or got wet or smashed etc while...

    Have I just invented something....

I think it mostly comes down to pack weight and the area you wish walk/ camp in. I tend not to go straight to my chosen camp area but walk maybe 15-20 miles a day to it. Mainly around the peak district, well there's quite a few wooded areas so finding a secluded spot tends not to be a problem if...

    Victorinox Lifetime Warranty

Just wondering if you needed any paperwork for the warranty? I have one sat in my drawer with a broken main blade ( the end has snapped off) this was my first knife bought for me by my grandfather on my 16th birthday. I'd love to get it sorted.

    Tell me about Trangia Stoves!

I've got the trangia 25-6, it's brilliant I've had no problems with it at all. Granted they are a bit bulky compared to a standalone burner but everything you need is contained withing the main bowl. Somebody above mentioned the are not great in cold weather, I found a small bottle of cheap...

    cairngorms

Sorry if this has been asked before, I've done a search and couldn't find anything. Me and the misses are planning a camping trip to the cairngorms in September. Could anybody recommend a good campsite preferably one that allows open fires? This will her first camping trip so I think a site may...
