(I couldn't find a similar thread. I couldn't find a better topic under which to post. Thanks for your patience.)
I mostly camp with a tarp. I got a bonus and spent it on a hot tent, stove, and cot. The tent is meant for a hammock, but works with a cot if there are no suitable trees. The...
Thank you all for your ideas and discussion.
tl;dr: No.
The consensus appears to be that kits are of two types: minor repair of equipment and self, and near-term comfort, hygiene, and hydration.
The rural broken-bus folk might consider adding a wag bag to the kit. I do.
Thank you for your thoughts.
I grew up during the Cold War. Downwind from an Air Force base. Scarred for life. Still prepping, even though the front brain knows I'll be vaporized in the initial blast.
When I finish with a bleach bottle, I fill it with water, label the date with a grease pencil, stash it in the back of the basement, and forget about it.
Chlorine. Ammonia. My local fire department has the locations and specs for all such nasties. Many years ago, chlorine leaked and the local police set up roadblocks. In another case, some nitwit launched a flare that landed on a meat packing plant. They had an ammonia refrigerator. One squad of...
Well, yes, they are awful, except for the sharp one. Even so, I carried one for years solely to cut splints. At the time, I was living in an arid area with no down and dead wood; there was no need for a firewood-gathering tool. I was lampooned by my then-gf for carrying it. We're friends again...
Found it.

the only necessary urban edc survival kit is a credit card and a smile. (And a smartphone that you buy with your credit card.)
But that's no fun, is it?

I like my alpaca socks. My alpaca sweaters wear out too soon. Without some synthetic fiber in the mix, the alpaca yarn falls apart. Not dissing the idea of an alpaca liner, but try this: Merino wool liner.
I use one of these, not necessarily from the linked manufacturer. I add a couple of 2m buckle straps sometimes. Small critter-proof, toss something waterproof over it if rain is likely, wash out every year or so.
Scaled down to 640 px wide from 4,000. It's been through a few dips in de-rust solution over the decades. Note the barbs. This is three plies of barbed ribbon twisted together. Current Gigli/dehorning saws are various gauges of round wire woven together. Sharp tooth >> round bump.
Thanks for your reply.
I thought I was a member, but nobody told me there was a secret handshake.
I tried the little postcard. That's what rejected my URLs.
I've been searching this site for photo upload rules, "640x480 jpg under 10 kB", or whatever.
Photobucket put up a paywall. I left...
Thank you all for your responses. I have photos but B-IK isn't accepting my URLs for them. Text replies follow. Will post my pics when I figure out the tech.
I have always carried the little coil saw only to prepare splints for wilderness first aid. Dead and down wood for fires requires only...
If you are a couple, see item 23 about snoring and flatulence. We don't want to hear the beast with two backs.
Items 4 and 17 are the same.
Items 5 and 20 are the same.
Items 15, 24, and 33 are one item.
Item 32 applies _everywhere_. _Anyone_ can halt activity on a safety concern, rank or...
