Hi all,

Dennis from Brisa sent me a new Fisher Enzo kit, because I gave some suggestions for details in the knife and the name. (He wrote out a competition on www.britishblades.com - best name wins a knife - I won, woohoo :D )

Here's the result. I blatantly stole inspiration from Rapidboy who posted a modular kydex sheath on BB. Praise be to Rapidboy! :notworthy

I'm chuffed!

Thanks!

Bris has kydex too, real nice material to work with.

If you get an "almost ready made" kit for this knife, bear in mind the handle slabs ar quite thin at the upper side. I don't mind it too much since this will be a kitchen/fishing knife, but you might want to use different slabs if you have bigger hands.

I have a few sheets of what looks like that Kydex, that a bloke sent me a while ago.

He said that it could be formed if it was heated up so I assume it might be the same stuff.

How exactly did you form the sheath?

Have a look on www.britishblades.com, lots of info.

Here's the thread that got me going by the way, very cool designs for sheaths that can be carried in different ways:
http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81298

The Kydex I know has a shiny, smooth side and a dull, more textured site.
Here's a tip: Cut off a piece and heat it with a hot air gun or hair blower till it's floppy, and fold it. Let it cool. Reheat it. If it goes floppy and it wants to go back to its original flat state, you got kydex (or concealex, seems to be something similar).

It can be reheated and shaped time and again. That's the greatest thing about it! If you screw up, just reheat and try again! Or, if your sheath is finished and some parts are not OK, just reheat that part and shape again.

Here's a video, there are more:

Some tutorials:

This is the one I used, but instead of neoprene I used wooden planks with 2 layers of closed cell foam mat glued onto the planks. Cheap as chips.

Great information there, thanks.

The stuff I have has a textured side and a shiny side just like the stuff in your picture, the bloke gave me a load of it (about four sheets of it at about 18 inches by two foot) to make stuff for my motorbike and I have never got round to having a go yet.

Will see how I get on.
Regards Scott.
