Made for a member of bb.

This traditional Nessmuk is made from 3mm O1 with a convex grind, overall length is 8 1/2" and the blade is just over 4".

The handle is stabilized box elder over brick red liner with brass fittings.

It's not my normal style but i like it :)

Sweet!

I'm curious as to the thinking Nessmuk used that led to the "hump" on the upper part of the blade as part of his design.
Has it an actual function or purely for asthetics?

I like that knife a LOT!

not that I am an expert you understand but my impression has always been that the 'hump' gives a better hold when skinning (which Nessmuk seemed to use his knife for a lot) and also for batonning.

I have read his book numerous times and can't recall him discussing the exact design of his knife too much, unlike his axe which gets pages devoted to it.

if anyone has got anything more definite then I would be fascinated to hear it and if anyone knows where one of these knives can be obtained in the UK then get in touch!!!

just my thoughts anyway....
