"In memory of Barbara Anne Hunsley who loved to walk in this wood", is what it says, on a memorial bench at the edge of my favourite wood.

I had gone out this morning, with dog, for my usual and, as usual, found myself doing a Meldew at the litter...then I came to the bench and I find atop, a bunch of fresh roses(?).

Just being there and noting that someone still cares for someone's memory; well it put and end to my grumps immediately.
I.d seen similar things thereabouts, before, but none had yet prompted me to ponder my own mortality and how it may be remembered.
Oh, maudlin and droll.

Ach, it was just a cold, which made me use a hankie, and my throat was just a wee bit dry from want of coffee.

Thoughtfully, we took the leafy path home, to the festive warmth of family which waited us there.

Thanks Ceeg - what a lovely thing to find and how kind of you to post it in a thoughtful way.

Nice post Ceeg, good to hear there are still some decent folk about.

When I started reading your thread I thought it was going to turn in to one of vandalism and disrespect to someones memory.

Thanks for sharing

sorry don't see it no doubt upset a few folk by my sentiments but is'nt that what a cemetry is for ? The memorial bench is good enough imo, no need for the flowers, if that is the case why not just plant a tree ?

Don't want to turn Ceeg's touching and thoughtful post into an arguement so probably best to just let this one go....

Thanks for sharing with us Seagull, you made me pause for a while and think.
