I have eight North Face ones from the late 1990's and they're still superb. No idea if the modern varieties are as good though.
They look like these ones, but I have lots of different colours.

The NF factory shop used to be down river from us, and their sales were legendary :)

I bought one from Rohan for Himself years ago, and it too has been really good.

Nearly any close woven material is UVPF50

Worth a look at uv fishing shirts.

Hoodies with face protection, long sleeved polo shirts, traditional shirts... Plenty to choose from, depends on you use and preferences.

My biggest issue was the heat. I worked outdoors, and I already have had a run in with skin cancer, I got read the riot act about covering up....that's a tad hard to do working hard outdoors in Summer, even here.

A decent hat, with a neck cover attached is a good thing, and they can be ventilated and still work well.

I really like Mountain Hardwear Crater Lake (¼ zip and hoody but be sure you're not buying the baselayer fleece which sometimes pops up with the same name) and Patagonia Capilene Cool long sleeves, hoodies and their Tropic hoodie.

I did not rate the Rab Force sun hoody which felt really thick and clammy. The others I mentioned are floaty and very comfortable.

Paramo Men’s Katmai Shirt. Have used one for just about all sunny adventures since 2005. Not the sharpest looking, but performs well.

I have a Royal Robins 5:11 tactical shirt esque design that looks better and works well, but hasn’t been made in many years.

I have an early "sun shirt" made from Supplex, fine PA fiber and thin weave, a couple of pants too. Works well and is very comfortable, dries fast. For some reason the material did not really catch and is rare nowadays.
I am following with interest as I am planning a thin hoodie type shirt for the summer, had a chat with one user at Leka and he said that it was so far a working solution.

For hot summer I wear a plain green coloured combat shirt. Thick sleeves shield arms from harmful sun rays and torso fabric let the wind through.

I swear by these in summer, they’re great for keeping you dry, I believe the UV protection is 30 to 50. I get mine off season from their outlet section as they’re not cheap, to say the least! I got one for 70% off and my others for 50% off (£45). They have wicking mesh and plenty pockets.

Craghoppers are good. I've taken them to the jungle and cold climates as well as UK.
Performed very well.
If your pockets are a bit deeper brands like Rab or Rohan also do options I think.
I have a craghoppers uv shirt too - double folded collar for extra neck protection if needed. Clever idea
