I'm pondering about getting 1 of these as a back-up, does anyone carry or own 1 to give me a idea of what there like.
Also I found my original model what a throw back moment.
Cheers

I have one, purchased one after finding the incandescent one and finding it lacking a bit.

I like the build of the solitaire, the light is decent enough and batteries easy to source.

I’ve always liked maglites, remember to put a smear of grease on the threads though because they can seize up

Excellent on your key ring takes up no space, and a lot better than the old incandescent one, I really do wonder what some people want out of their torches, we managed without lighting the sky all the way to the moon back in the day. I have still got my original too.

Horrible white light from the cheap emitter on the Maglites. A Skilhunt E3A is about the smallest, single mode AAA light, comes with a high colour rendition emitter option. This is much better for reflecting true colours.

I ordered a Lumintop EDC01 keychain torch accouple of days ago it came earlier and for the money it seems to be a pretty good torch 3 brightness modes, Cheaper than the Mag-lite I was thinking of buying at the start of the Thread.

You can get a LED bulb for your Solitaire.

As to the modern LED Solitaire, much better EDC LED aluminium and titanium torches available.

Does one not frequire a different geometry reflector to work with the LED emitter?

As when I converted my double AA mini maglite to LED it came with a new reflector claimed optimised for LED.

I eventually also replaced the plastic lens too as the heat from that emitter sort of re-engineered the existing plastic.
