What with a need to give Forest bathing a go through my recent re-observation of a crafter I used to follow to empathise with, I have come to the question pertaining to hammocks and the need to obtain one at least for the practice mentioned above ( and below) , but maybe my later perhaps nearer later greater adventure out of doors

Forest Bathing - Tips for Mental Wellness

To ask though the crafter above makes four year old recommendations on where to buy hammocks presumably fit for hiding in the woods ( I have no desire to be noticed), where would Bushcraft UK crafters recommend I look?

Ah, the ancient Japanese practice of "Shinrin Yoku". I practice this whenever I can.
Depending on how much you want to spend on a hammock and how you want to use it, there are many choices available. DDHammocks do a nice range. I use a Tenth Wonder Green Hornet, sadly these don't seem to be available anymore. If you just want to hang for a few hours, a cheap amazon hammock will do.

Are you intending to use the hammock for camping as well as for forest bathing?
That might influence choices a little, of it's just for a few hours the dd scout always works but it's not great for camping options
Yes it is my intention to do more with the hammock than just forest bathe for I as a mature adult have yet to get involved in the practical aspects of bushcrafting so hope the hammock may form part of an eventual sleep system.

Well I hope it works better for you than hammocking does for me. Just had a couple of rough nights trying out different options at home and still not right.. Come to the conclusion I'm really a ground dweller, but will persist because I like to be well rounded because sometimes the ground is not viable, and a hammock is the only way to go.

I did the ground stuff in my youth, to say it no longer appeals so if I am going to ' get out there ' I need to find another way

There’s an ancient Chinese saying:

One can reach heaven by flying into the air like a dragon or by burrowing in the ground like a worm.

I think it was originally comparing Tao with Confucianism but it would appear to apply to bushcraft kip.

Count me among the worms.

I am no less with and of the trees.

My garden is half hidden under trees. In Summer it's a delight, in Autumn it's a incessant rain of debris

I bought myself a free standing hammock last Summer....Son2, bless him, built it up for his Mum :)
No one else in the family likes it, but I am utterly chilled out lying in it. I can fall asleep in the middle of the day out there :)

So, at this butt end of the year, those 'garden' hammocks are going cheaply. Might be fun to try one out ?
see how you get on with it, practice getting in and out, sort of thing, too.

I don't use it just now, I really need a tarp over it and in the earlier in the year evenings it really, really does need an anti-midge net.
It's still fun :)

Anyone at the BcUKMakers Moot over Saturday night knows about forest bathing!!! I would not have been surprised to see the forest whale!

I tried this forest bathing in a hammock thing..... 18 pints of Guinness, too lazy/sleepy to get up.......
Not something I would repeat.

Sadly I had to miss it due to work, and spent the whole day on a roof in the rain cutting and fitting tiles around a flashing. Tried to mortar it up afterwards but the rain kept washing the mortar out.

I go hammocking with my son and some friends occasionally just to chill out in the woods for the day with a brew and have a chat/read a book and usually a snoring session:) . Its also an ideal opportunity to try various setups for tarps and hammock combos. Now I know it's got a name I might use that to sound more hip:)
Cheers
