our last meet saw us clear a new communal and camping area. this gave us an abundance of wood for the fire pit, along with loads of good sized brash. in order to dispose of this neatly personal fires will be allowed to gather from the brash heaps, usual guidelines apply see post 1.

Looks like I may be up for an early start :)

I've got a whole list of things I want to be doing, high on the agenda is trying to accomplish bowdrill with the help of bill xD

sounds good, if you dont mind an audience give us a heads up on the day. :)

... like busting some fluid dancing moves like your video on facebook ;)

Can I bring my hammock chair to suspend under the yew, Steve? If the weather isn't pants :)

thats fine Sal', cant see any harm in that. :)

going away for a few days soon, may not have too much internet access. so to recap...

new site in middle of wood is to be used, parking CP2/CP3 depending on weather. be prepared to carry your gear in if track too muddy.
extra day on Thursday the 24th is available, so far we have 4 takers.
personal fires allowed to burn wood of any size from processed brash pile.
sales and swops as always, post up here

just me alone I'm afraid, confirmed for 25-27 although I may be off early-ish sunday

I've been thinking about the new communal, I might get down Thursday and bring a pickaxe and shovel for the fire pit and bring up the barrel, grids and tarp etc from the northern / 1st pitch... was the line to suspend the communal tarp left up when you lads did a trial hang?

I won't dig a pit until more experienced folk or the boss confirms the location, or I might find I've dug my own grave if it has to be relocated :D

i think we took it down as it was Martin's own rope. we tested the large branch which sticks out look dead but was able to take Martin swinging on it so will take the chute.

I want to collect some stuff for a bow drill kit and try some other stuff too. will do some knot stuff round the fire if people are interested or can teach some navigation stuff as well if people want?

Thanks Tinky :) I brought the rope I had down but it's nasty polypropylene slippy twin core with awful stretch, blooming useless stuff.. Does anyone have any? I'll keep my eyes open if we go to anchor surplus etc :)

I missed your last nav course but remember smiling at how quiet and attentive your students were :D Brian andI might have our hand sewing machines for a play if the weather is clement :)

really looking forward to this meet, please bare with me though as I've not been out for a while and will either A) bring far too much kit, B) forget something critical or C) spend an hour or 2 looking for my "pitch"......... are photo's allowed guys?

I'm guilty of a,b and c at every meet :D The rule of photos is don't put up unflattering ones or you'll be fair game to have beastie pictures posted of you ;) and try not to post ones which may be misinterpreted as bad practice eg chainsawing without safety gear. We tend to put pictures in separate picture threads in the England mid meet section - if you only have a few, add them to someone elses when it's up or start a thread yourself and make it a full write up, everyone loves reading and seeing them :D

I might have some blue draw rope for the communal tarp, scored 220m for £12.50 for work, delighted :D
