Is that one bigger than the one you gave me in the woods Kepis mate.
You have to keep your eye in to find them mate, ha ha.

Certainly is, this one is the size of a small orange, got a bigger one out back;)

I picked some up in the rocks on the beach between Lower Eype and Lyme Regis, but mine is a lot darker than in Kepis photos.

You can pick them up, by the ton, just East of Herne Bay.
There is a spot by Beltinge cliff's, the last time I gathered some the floor was covered with them, just like a carpet.
P.M. me & maybe arrange a meet up to show you the spot.

I have been to Botany Bay, spent hours looking, and only found one of them about the size of a walnut. My son, who was 5 at the time, thought that it was a nice pebble and threw it in the sea … I was not best pleased, but have gotten over it now! L

Kepis's nodule looks like the right sort. The Pyrite you get in the hippy shops cannot be used for fire lighting ... they disintegrate.

Does anyone have nodules that look like Kepis's nodule that they want to sell (the bigger the better)?

will keep you posted, might be going on a pyrite hunt later in the week, if we find any will give you a shout.

Does anybody know any beach on the east coast of Ireland where iron pyrite nodules can be found? I've found plenty of flint nodules so far, but no iron pyrite yet...

Hey guys,

New here and found this interesting thread... I was just wondering if this was a pyrite nodule?

It weights a kg and has a density of 4.76 (could be out by a little bit)

Cheers!

Sam
