Ahh, you mean a perfect slicing weapon, well anything with that sort of long gentle curve natrally slices.
I belive the curve has the effect of giving least area to the cut so delivering all of the power to that small area. This is why even the cheap and nasty ones are so dangerous.
It depends on weather its a 1908 pattern or not (the last britsh sword pattern to see active service )
I actual meant the Japanese WWII sword, because I think it was the first time they were mass produced.
Is the 1908 sword, not the perfect sword, they finally cracked the problem of a cutting and stabbing weapon, at the same time as they cracked the machine gun, so making it next to useless.
Don't know if anyone has looked but ...

... the ban would have come into play a lot sooner, but it was a LibDem member.
What happened was everybody with an interest went wait a minute, they went after swords, and got these cheap and nasty rip offs. But they now have a law in place, which can be changed by a Judge. It is much easier to change a law than create one. Look what happened to lock knifes, that is not law, that is a Judge's opinion, which is being challenged, but until then they are classed as fixed blades. It is about fear, do you want a criminal record, do you trust British justice, and have you got the money to fight it and buy it.
But anyway, thank goodness I can still go on a psychotic rampage with one of these ...

They will be next, you wait and see. Although, my money is on crossbows next, or at the very least a massive tighting on the law around them.
Our political state nowadays is due to the career politicians we have now. The trouble is, when people select polititcs as a career per se, then they will do anything they perceive as popularist to keep their job. They don't give a rat's **** about the people or country- just keeping their pathetic jobs. This requires popularity, and thus the knee jerk reactions to media fuelled frenzies. Sadly, I don't see this changing..
The thing that worries me, and has done for a while is that without a media face, you are dead in the water, in british politics. They did not get samarai swords full stop, because of the fencing groups. They got guns because everyone stood back and let them. Is Ray going to step up for knives, another stab at them has to be coming soon, and only the celebrity cheifs stopped it last time. People keep taking about axes, who would stand for them?
Here is the thing when it comes to banning, said this to a fisherman, as he laughed about the up coming ban on fox hunting, your next. He laughed and said there are too many of us. I pointed out that some of the most powerful people in the country fox hunt, and they lost because people did not stand with them, and for them. What started almost straight after the ban, that fishing was bad for rivers, and fish. Have you ever seen a story that points out the good job the Royals do of controlling their land, or is it all about how evil they are for killing animals.
