As far as Mushrooms are concerned I would go for Mushrooms by Roger Phillips ISBN 0330264419. There is also a smaller companion guide that you can put in your pocket.
There is also the Collins Gem series which has one called Mushrooms and Toadstools. Don't have the ISBN for that.

There's a collins gem knots book. One of the cheap book shops - I forget which one - was recently doing a knots book too.

'The Works' bookshop are doing quite a good one for a pound. Very easy to foolow and lots of illustrations.
