Not complaining, just curious. When I try to refresh a page in the forum, more often than not I am taken back to the main menu/index page. Is this normal?

This would depend if you're viewing the thread within a frameset or not and from another post I think Spam views without frames (as I do). Try right clicking in the thread and clicking refresh/reload. That should just refresh the thread.
